Choctaw Central swept a pair of region games from Leake Central last week in slow-pitch softball action.

The Lady Warriors, now 4-1, won the first game 11-0 and then took game two 14-0. Choctaw Central has two games slated with Kosciusko this week. They were to visit the Lady Whippets on Tuesday and host on Thursday.    

The Lady Warriors belted four home runs in their win over Leake Central on Monday.

Choctaw Central scored four in the first, six in the second and one in the fifth. Melanian Jimmie was the winning pitcher.

Neera Bell and Tia’Rain Saunders both hit two home runs. Maiya Joe hit a triple while Miley Billie added a pair of doubles. Jimmie and Ahnaya Williams both hit a double.

The Lady Warriors put Leake Central away in three innings in the second game as they scored two in the first, six in the second and six in the third. Jimmie again was the winner. She gave up two hits.

Saunders and Ciji Vaughn both hit home runs. Malaka Morris hit a triple while Neera Bell, Miley Billie, Jimmie and C. Kenaye Willis all hit a double.

Lady Rockets

Neshoba Central improved to 8-0 with two victories last week in slow-pitch softball action.

The Lady Rockets defeated Wayne County 18-2 and Starkville 18-2

Neshoba Central has two games this week. They will host Enterprise on Tuesday and Northwest Rankin on Thursday.

“We will be playing two quality teams this week,” Coach Trae Embry said. “This should be a good test. We have been hitting the ball well and playing good defense.”

Neshoba Central pounded out 17 hits in its win over Wayne County. The Lady Rockets scored five in the first, four in the second, five in the fourth and four in the fifth.

The Lady Rockets hit eight home runs in the game. Layana Morris launched two home runs including a grand slam. Tenley Grisham hit two home runs while Elleigh Willis and Hamaya Fielder both hit one. Hallie Billie hit a home run and a double while scoring three runs and knocking in two.

The Lady Rockets’ Elleigh Willis pitched a one-hitter in the Lady Rockets’ region victory over Starkville on Thursday.

Neshoba Central scored three in the first, five in the second and nine in the fourth. Starkville scored its runs in the second inning.

Willis hit two home runs to help her cause. Tori Henderson hit a homer while Hallie Billie hit a homer and a double. Hamaya Fielder added a double. Grisham had three hits while scoring three runs and knocking in another.



The Union Lady Yellowjackets dropped a pair of extra innings games to Ethel last Tuesday.

Ethel won the first game 2-1 in 12 innings, and then took the second game 12-11 in eight innings.

The Lady Yellowjackets will be home Thursday when they host Philadelphia.

Union scored its only run in the first game during the sixth inning. Ethel scored one in the seventh to tie the game and one in the 12th to win it. Anna Grace Blount and McKenlee McDaniel both had two hits for Union.

In the second game, Union scored two in the first, five in the second, one in the fourth and three in the sixth. Ethel came back to score two in the fourth, two in the sixth, seven in the seventh and one in the eighth.

Ansley Rigby hit a home run while Jordan Turner bit a triple. DaShayla McDaniel and Kayleigh Vance both hit a double. Blount had three hits and Brilti Cleveland had two.



The Lady Tornadoes have two region games scheduled this week. They were to host Leake County on Tuesday take on Union on Thursday.
