The Choctaw Central Lady Warriors won just one out of three games this past week.

The Lady Warriors lost 8-2 to Lake and 13-5 to Newton County but took a 15-2 win over Meridian.

Choctaw Central, now 13-7, will return to action this week as they play at Neshoba Central on Monday and will then host Nettleton on Tuesday in a 7 p.m. contest.

The Lady Hornets broke open a tight game in the last two innings to take a six-run win on Monday.

Choctaw scored one in the first while Lake answered with one in the third. Lake then scored four in the sixth and three in the seventh. Choctaw added one in the sixth.

Lake outhit Choctaw 15-7. Tia’Rain Saunders led Choctaw at the plate, going 2-for-3. Leia Phillips doubled and scored while Ahnaya Williams tripled and scored. Neera Bell also tripled while Malaka Morris had two RBIs.

Meridian 2

The Lady Warriors needed just four innings to take a run-rule win over the Lady Wildcats on Tuesday.

Meridian led 2-0 after the first innings before Choctaw Central scored three in the second, four in the third and eight in the eighth. 

Choctaw had 16 hits in the game, led by Ciji Vaughn who was 2-for-3 with two home runs, two runs scored and four RBIs. Tia’Rain Saunders was 2-for-3 with two doubles, two runs scored and three RBIs. Neera Bell was 2-for-2 with a triple, two runs scored and two RBIs while Tyra Billy was 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs. Kodi Jimmie was 2-for-2 with two runs scored while Malaka Morris was 2-for-2 with a triple and two runs scored. Leia Phillips was 2-for-2 with two runs scored while Maiya Joe singled and had two RBIs. 

Ciji Vaughn pitched all four innings and gave up two runs on three hits.





Newton County 13

The Lady Cougars scored seven runs in the fourth inning to pull away and take an eight-run win over the Lady Warriors on Thursday.

Newton County scored two in the first and one in the second before Choctaw scored four in the fourth. County then responded with seven in the fourth, two in the fifth and one in the sixth.

Newton County outhit Choctaw 14-10. Tyra Billy was 2-for-3 with an RBI while Melanian Jimmie was 2-for-3 with a run scored. Malaka Morris was 2-for-4 while Leia Phillips was 2-for-4 with a double. Tia’Rain Saunders also had a double and scored a run.
