The Philadelphia Lady Tornadoes split a pair of games last week as their slow-pitch softball season got under way.
The Lady Tornadoes defeated Newton High School 16-0, and then dropped a 22-12 decision to Lake.
The Lady Tornadoes scored all of their runs in the first inning against Newton. The first team played the first inning with reserves finishing the game. There were many walks and everyone had at least one hit.
Trailing 19-8 after the first three innings, the Lady Tornadoes scored four in the fourth to pull to within five runs. Then the Lady Hornets added three runs to put it away.
Nia Luckett hit a home run and a triple. Jasmine Hutchins hit home run and a sacrifice fly. Makala Evans and N’Drah Tanksley both had two hits.
Philadelphia will play at Choctaw Central on Tuesday and at Starkville on Thursday.
