Lady Tornadoes off to 8-1 start

The Philadelphia Lady Tornadoes improved to 8-1 last weekend as they picked up three wins in the Kosciusko classic.
The Lady Tornadoes took a 14-0 win over Union, a 23-12 victory over Winona, and an 11-6 win over Ridgeland.
The Lady Tornadoes have two home games slated for this week as they host Neshoba Central on Tuesday and Raleigh Thursday in their first Region 5-3A game of the season.
"We are playing well at this point but we still have things to improve on," Coach Austin McNair said. "Our pitching is coming around and that has helped."
Alyssa Davis belted two triples and a double to lead the Lady Tornadoes past Union.
Philadelphia scored one in the first, one in the second, four in the fourth, five in the fifth and three in the sixth. Union scored one in the fourth, two in the fifth and one in the sixth.
The Lady Tornadoes used a big fourth inning to put Winona away.
The Lady Tornadoes scored two in the second, nine in the third and 12 in the fourth. Winona scored two in the second, eight in the third and two in the fifth.
Macy Goldman was the winning pitcher. She had four strikeouts.
Marsha Hunt hit a grand slam home run to pace Philadelphia. TK Cole and Kenyatta Moore both hit doubles while Jada White went two-for-two.
A big second inning proved to be the difference for the Lady Tornadoes.
Philadelphia scored two in the first, eight in the second and one in the fourth. Ridgeland answered with two in the first, three in the second and one in the fourth.
Goldman was the winning pitcher. She had three strikeouts.
Hunt led with a triple while Moore and Kambreshia Griffin each added a double. P'Kamchy Jordan and Goldman both hit singles.
