The Philadelphia Lady Tornadoes were one game from advancing to the South State round of the Class 3A state playoffs on Tuesday.

Philadelphia defeated Raleigh 6-3 on Saturday in the first game of the best two-out-of-three series. They were to play games two and three, if necessary, Tuesday afternoon at Burnside Park. The winner of this series will face the winner of St. Patrick and Sumrall with the first game most likely being held Saturday.

"We have to take care of our business against Raleigh," Coach Austin McNair said. "Then we can worry about the next round."

The Lady Tornadoes entered the week with a 25-6 record.

In game one, Philadelphia scored one in the first, one in the second, three in the fourth and one in the sixth. The Lady Lions answered with three runs in the sixth.

Caitlyn Dickerson was the winning pitcher. She had nine strikeouts.

Alyssa Davis led the Lady Tornadoes with a home run and a triple. Precious Sanders went 3-for-4 at the plate with a home run. Jada White went 2-for-3.
