It took a couple of extra days, but the Philadelphia Lady Tornadoes rallied to win game three over Pass Christian Monday to advance in the state class 3A state fast-pitch tournament.

The Lady Tornadoes lost game one 4-3 at Pass Christian. They came back to win game two on Saturday 11-1. Bad weather stopped the third game after the first inning and it was completed Monday with the Lady Tornadoes winning 5-0.

"We were in a similar situation last year and I knew we could come back if we played our type of game," Philadelphia Coach Austin McNair said. "Pass Christian was a good team and we had to play hard to beat them."

The Lady Tornadoes now stand at 24-6. They will play Raleigh in the next round. The Lady Lions defeated Choctaw Central in three games last weekend to advance.

Game one will be played Thursday at Raleigh while games two and three, if necessary, will be played at Burnside Park on Saturday.

Caitlin Dickerson was the pitcher for the Lady Tornadoes in all three games. She held Pass Christian to three hits in games one and two and pitched a one-hitter in game three.

In game one, Philadelphia scored all of its runs in the fifth inning. Pass Christian scored three in the third and one in the sixth. The Lady Tornadoes had a 6-3 hitting edge. Alyssa Davis hit a home run and a double while Precious Sanders added double.

Game two saw the Lady Tornadoes outhit Pass Christian 10-3. Philadelphia scored five in the third and six in the fourth. Pass Christian's run came in the fifth inning.

Kambresha Griffin led the Lady Tornadoes with two triples. Latesha Carter and Dickerson both had two hits.

The Lady Tornadoes banged out nine hits in game three. Philadelphia scored one in the second, one in the third, two in the fifth and one in the sixth. K.K. Bounds hit a triple and a double and Griffin added a triple and a single.
