Lady Tornadoes advance to 2nd

The Philadelphia Lady Tornadoes battled past Tylertown in the first round of the South State Class 3-A playoffs to advance to the second round.
The Lady Tornadoes defeated Tylertown 13-2 in the first game of the best two-out-of-three playoffs and then took the second game 13-3.
Earlier in the week, Philadelphia closed out the regular season by splitting two games. They defeated Southeast Lauderdale 11-0 and then lost a 14-13 decision to Choctaw County.
The Lady Tornadoes were to face Morton in the second round with the first game set for Monday and games two and three, if necessary, to be played on Tuesday. The winner of this series advances to the third round starting on Friday.
"We are playing well in some areas," Coach Austin McNair said. "But we still have plenty of areas to improve in. The competition is going to get tougher each round."
The Lady Tornadoes entered the week with a 20-6 record.

Autumn Davis banged out a triple and a single to lead the Lady Tornadoes.
Philadelphia scored 10 in the second and one in the fifth inning.
Macy Goldman was the winning pitcher.
Choctaw County 14
Choctaw County came up with nine runs in the sixth to pull past Philadelphia.
Goldman took the loss.
T.K. Cole hit a home run and two singles while Jada White had three hits.
The Lady Tornadoes took an early lead in this one.
Philadelphia scored four in the first, three in the second, three in the fourth and three in the fifth. Tylertown scored two in the fifth.,
Goldman was the winning pitcher.
Alyssa Davis hit a home run and two singles while Kenyatta Moore added two singles. Autumn Davis hit a triple and Marsha Hunt added a double.
With the game tied at 3-3 after the third inning, the Lady Tornadoes put together 10 runs to pull away from Tylertown.
Philadelphia scored three in the first, two in the fourth, two in the fifth and four in the sixth. Tylertown scored one in the second and two in the third.
Kenyatta Moore was the winning pitcher.
Moore hit two singles and Hunt added a triple.
