The Neshoba Central Lady Rockets picked up their first Region 2-5A victory over the season last week as they took a 38-29 win over Yazoo City in prep basketball action.

The Lady Rockets now stand at 12-6 overall and 1-3 in the region standings. They have two region games left as they visit Canton Friday and host Starkville on Tuesday, Jan. 29.

Neshoba Central led 16-8 at the half. The Lady Rockets outscored the Lady Indians 16-9 in the third quarter and held on for the win.

Breona Foster led Neshoba Central with 13 points and T'keya Backstrom added nine.

A game with Kosciusko was canceled. The Neshoba Central boys lost their game to Yazoo City.
