Lady Rockets pound Clinton 20-2 to win North State championship

The Neshoba Central Lady Rockets punched their ticket to the Class 5A-6A finals with a smashing sweep of the Clinton Arrows last Tuesday.
The Lady Rockets beat Clinton 20-2 in the first game and 15-4 in the second game. Neshoba Central was really swinging the bats as they knocked out six home runs in each of the two games.
The first game saw the Lady Rockets score three in the first, four in the third and 13 in the fifth. Clinton scored two in the third.
Neshoba Central outhit Clinton 18-6.
Hailey Lunderman went 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs; Katlyn Duke went 1-for-1 with a home run and three intentional walks; Kayla Robertson hit two home runs and finished with six RBIs; Meshay Jimmie hit two home runs and had three RBIs; Kayla Willis hit a double and a single; Mallory Tucker had two hits and three RBIs; and Jenna Pigg hit a double, a single and brought in one run.
The Lady Rockets started the second game with back-to-back-to-back home runs with Lunderman, Williams and Duke all hitting round-trippers on the first pitch.
The Lady Rockets scored four in the first, seven in the second, one in the third and three in the fourth. Clinton scored four in the fourth.
Lunderman went 3-for-4 at the plate with one home run and three RBIs; Williams went 2-for-4 with two home runs and three RBIs; Duke went 1-for-1 with one home run and three intentional walks; Robertson went 2-for-2 with a double, a home run, four RBIs and two intentional walks; Madalyn McMahon hit a home run; Willis hit a single; Mallory Tucker went 2-for-3; Maggie Peebles went 2-for-2; and, Jenna Pigg hit a single.
"We were really swinging the ball well," Coach Trae Embry said. "At one point, they intentionally walked by Duke and Robertson."
With the two wins, the Lady Rockets improved to 32-1 and advanced to the finals of the Class 5A-6A tournament to play Wayne County.
