The Neshoba Central Lady Rockets look to close out the fast-pitch softball regular season this week with a pair of games against Newton County.

The Lady Rockets are slated to visit Newton County on Tuesday and host the Lady Cougars on Thursday.

Neshoba Central entered the week with a 20-2 record. They played two games last week, defeating Germantown 9-5 and topping Philadelphia 1-0. The Lady Rockets won their region and drew a first round bye in the playoffs.

Germantown took the early lead but then the Lady Rockets turned the tables.

The Lady Mavericks scored two in the first, two in the second and one in the third. Neshoba Central came back with four in the third, one in the fourth, two in the fifth and two in the sixth.

Alexus Lathan was the winning pitcher. She pitched five innings while Aspen Wesley pitched the last two innings, striking out six.

Tenly Grisham paced the Lady Rockets with a triple while Rivers Gray hit a double and a single. Madalyn Thompson and Wesley both hit a double while Makenzie Barnett and Tori Henderson both hit a single.

The Lady Rockets scored one in the third as they took the win over Philadelphia.

Wesley was the winning pitcher. She recorded 17 strikeouts.

Grisham knocked in the winning run.  Kaylee Routh hit a triple and scored the run. Wesley had two hits while Henderson, Rivers Gray and Kyle Thompson all hit a single.
