The Neshoba County 9-10 year-olds are going to the championship game Saturday to be played at the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg.

Neshoba County defeated Poplarville 18-12 Saturday in the semifinal game played at Jones County Junior College. They advance to the finals to play Oak Grove for the championship. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.

"We have a good scouting report on Oak Grove," Neshoba County coach Jerry Calloway said. "They are a good team and they really like to mix it up. But if our guys play like I know we can, I know we can win it and bring home a football championship.

"We don't know if Brett Favre will be coaching them but he'll probably be there. If we win, we want to be on the front page of the newspaper!" Calloway said.

The Junior Rockets come in with a perfect 11-0 record.

Leading the way for Neshoba County were Jaylan Buckley, who scored a touchdown and rushed for 115 yards; Jaheim Gill, who scored a touchdown and rushed for 103 yards; and, Kadereyn Calloway, who scored a touchdown and rushed for 45 yards.

"We had several touchdowns called back because of penalties," Calloway said. "It was unreal and wouldn't have been that close. But we held on and won."

Tristan Gibson and Dustin Wilborn were the leading tacklers.
