The season didn't end the way the players and followers of the Neshoba County 9-10 youth football team had hoped.

But head coach Jerry Calloway said his team has nothing to hang their head about following a 24-6 loss to Oak Grove in the championship game last Saturday which was played at the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg.

"We played hard," Calloway said. "But they scored in the second half and we couldn't get anything going.

"We went 11-1 and made it to the championship game. That's a great season, especially when you consider our program is only three years old. But we'll have about half of our players coming back next year, and we are looking forward to another good year."

Neshoba County scored on its second possession when Jaheim Gill ran 70 yards for a touchdown. Oak Grove tied the game later in the half and the score was 6-6 at the half. Oak Grove came on strong in the second half to claim the win.
