The United Way of Neshoba County will host a Golf Classic on Friday, Sept. 27 at 1 p.m. at the Philadelphia Country Club to raise funds for our local agencies.

This tournament is going to be held in memory of Hugh Thomasson, one of the founders of our local United Way organization. Most importantly, 100 percent of the money we raise for the United Way during this tournament will stay in our community.

The two-person scramble, open to both men and women, will be held at the Philadelphia Country Club beginning with registration from noon to 12:30 p.m. followed by tee off at 1 p.m. The $100 entry fee per team will include mulligans and certificates.

"We are asking for your help in promoting this tournament and want to encourage you, your managers, and other employees to participate," organizers said. "If you have offices in outlying counties, please contact and invite them also. What a great way to reward your employees!

Entry form will be either at the Philadelphia Golf Club or the offices of the Community Development Partnership at the Depot. You can also contact Virginia Wells at 656.9951 or Chris Roake at 656.1000 and they will send you an entry form.

Prior to the tournament, there will be a chance for companies/businesses to sponsor a hole during the golf classic. If you are interested in purchasing a sponsorship for you business, please contact Virginia or Chris at the above phone numbers and they will assist with the sponsorship.

With your help, we can achieve our goal of helping others. The United Way "brings out the best in all of us" if we just let it!
