The Philadelphia Lady Tornadoes’ playoff hopes came to an end in the third round of the Class 3A fast-pitch softball playoffs last week.

The Lady Tornadoes won the first game of their series with East Union 5-3. But in the first inning of the second game, starting pitcher Nia Luckett went down with a knee injury and could not continue. East Union won the second game 4-3 to tie the series. In the third game, East Union carried an 11-6 lead into the late innings. There they scored 18 runs and put the Lady Tornadoes away 29-6.

In the first game, Luckett struck out 18 batters to lead her team to victory. Philadelphia scored one in the second, two in the third and two in the fourth. East Union scored three in the third.

Makayla Evans led with a double and a single. Tyesha Cole had two hits while scoring two runs and knocking in three RBIs. Kamryn Moore had two hits and NDrah Tanksley had one.

The Lady Tornadoes finished with a 17-5 record.
