Quinton Campbell and Jacques Johnson each scored 17 points and Michael Matlock added 15 in leading East Central Community College's Warriors to a 77-72 come-from-behind victory over Mississippi Delta Community College Saturday in the Brackeen-Wood Physical Education Building.

With the win, EC improved to 2-1 under first-year head coach Robert Thompson. Campbell, a 6-7 freshman forward, also led in rebounds with seven.

Johnson, a 6-4 sophomore guard/forward from Jackson Provine, collected six boards. Matlock, a 6-6 freshman guard/forward from Central High School in Memphis, grabbed five rebounds. EC trailed 43-30 at the break.

In the women's contest, EC dropped its first contest of the 2013-14 campaign with an 85-77 setback to the Lady Trojans.

Jaleshia Jones poured in 21 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead the Lady Warriors, who are now 2-1 under second-year head coach Crandal Porter.

Also scoring in double figures were Bryanna McClendon, a freshman guard from Lake, 16; Tynika Bender, a freshman guard from Newton, 14; and sophomore forward Tanihhija Hughes of Forest, 11.

EC trailed 34-28 at halftime.

Competition this week continues on the road for the Lady Warriors and Warriors as they were to visit Holmes on Monday and East Mississippi Community College Thursday.
