Choctaw, Union enter ECCC tournament

Both Choctaw Central and Union are entered in the annual East Central Community College high school basketball tournament which is being held this week.
Games started Monday with the semifinals set for Friday and the finals on Saturday. The consolation games will be held Thursday and some Saturday.
Both Choctaw Central teams were swept by Newton High School last Tuesday. The Lady Warriors went down 66-51 while the boys lost 58-51.
In the girls game, Newton led 27-21 at the half, and pulled away in the third quarter. Both Warrior teams enter the tournament with 3-2 records.
Both Philadelphia teams will try to get back on track after being swept by Ridgeland last week. The Lady Tornadoes lost 52-26 while the Tornadoes fell 64-34. The Lady Tornadoes were to host French Camp Tuesday. They play in the Sebastopol tournament this weekend.
The Leake Academy basketball teams have three games slated for this week. They were visit Kemper Academy Tuesday and then return home to play Mt. Salus on Thursday. On Saturday, the Rebel teams visit Hartfield Academy.
