Choctaw Central swept a pair of games from former region rival Southeast Lauderdale last Tuesday in prep basketball action.

The two long-time rivals are no longer in the same region since Choctaw Central moved up to 4A. The Lady Warriors improved to 5-0 with a 60-46 victory over Southeast Lauderdale. The Choctaw Central boys took their game over the Tigers with a 62-32 victory. The Warriors now stand at 3-2.

Those were the only games the Choctaw Central teams played last week. They have three this week. The Warrior teams were to host Brandon on Tuesday and Hazlehurst on Thursday. Saturday, Choctaw Central faces off against Pearl at Leake Central. The girls play at 3 3 p.m. while the boys follow at 4:30 p.m.

The Lady Warriors jumped out to a 42-19  halftime lead over Southeast Lauderdale.

Shantashia John led with 11 points while Jamae Wright and Leilaya McMillan both scored 10 points.

The Warriors put this game away in the first half.

Leading 15-9 after the first quarter, Choctaw Central outscored the Tigers 20-8 in the second stanza to go up 35-17 at the half. Choctaw Central had an 18-7 scoring edge in the third quarter. Both teams scored eight points in the final stanza.

Kashden Bell and Ocavious Jones both scored 11 points. Treundes Willis put in nine points.
