Both Choctaw Central teams claimed their first Region 5-3A victories of the season last Friday as they swept two games from Kemper County.

The Lady Warriors claimed a 71-56 win while the Warriors stopped the Wildcats 46-43. The two teams split with Union on Saturday night. The Lady Warriors won their game 68-41 while the Choctaw Central boys lost 69-57.

Choctaw Central has three road games lined up this week. They were to visit Newton County on Tuesday, Neshoba Central on Friday, and Louisville on Saturday.

The Lady Warriors started the week with a 7-1 record. Kristen Dixon scored 20 points to lead the Lady Warriors in their win over Union while Maleah Issac added 14 points.

"It has taken a little while for us to get used to each other," Choctaw Central coach Bill Smith said. "But everyone seems to be finding their role. We have three tough road games this week and that should help us get better."

The Choctaw Central boys came on strong in the second half to defeat Kemper County. Demarcus Wilson led the Warriors with 15 points while Trey Lilly added 12.

The Warriors played a close first half at Union with the score tied at 34-34 during the intermission. But Union pulled ahead in the second half to claim the victory. Wilson scored 17 points to lead the Warriors while Dalton Clegg added 15 and Lilly scored 12.
