This will be an important week for the soccer teams at Choctaw Central and Philadelphia as they play Thursday in a district matchup.

The two rivals will play at Choctaw Central. It was the second region game of the week for the Warriors who were to play the Math School on Tuesday. The Tornadoes had a non-region game against Forest on Tuesday.

The Neshoba Central soccer teams were to play at Hattiesburg on Saturday. Here is a report on last week’s matches. Afterwards, they will play at home  on Tuesday and Friday for the next two weeks.



Choctaw Central

Both Choctaw Central teams picked up a pair of victories last week.

The Lady Warriors remained undefeated as they improved their record to 5-0. They defeated McLaurin 9-3 and Louisville 10-2.

Against McLaurin, Jayna Ben, Kayliah Tubby and Jaiden Thomas all scored two goals. Sierra Wallace, Christy Lewis and Tara Willis all scored one goal.

Thomas scored four goals to pace the Lady Warriors over Louisville. Jayna Thomas and Christy Lewis each scored two goals while Wallace and Tara Willis both scored once.

The Warriors improved to 4-1 with wins over McLaurin 3-2 and Louisville 4-2.

JB John scored two goals for the Warriors in their win over McLaurin. Draven Cotton scored one goal.

Cody Roach, John and Graviel Velasco all scored in the Warriors win over Louisville.  



Philadelphia

The Philadelphia boys soccer team picked up a district win as they defeated the Math School 2-0 last week.

Parker Wood and Jon David Collins both scored a goal for the Tornadoes.  Isaac Martin and Mark Hunt each were credited with assists. Tucker Abel had eight saves.  Raedarius Triplett had five saves while Jariq Stribling had four, Connor Long three, Will Wood two, and Britton Phillips had one.

On Friday night, the Tornadoes lost 4-1 to Louisville. Parker Wood scored one goal. Abel had nine saves while Stribling had seven. Connor Long had three saves.

The Philadelphia girls dropped an 8-0 decision to the Math School. Maliah Black had six saves while Sarah Frazier had four; Sunshine Spivey and Jayda Moore both had two.

The Tornado girls lost a 6-0 decision to Louisville.



Neshoba Central

The Neshoba Central boys spilt a pair of games last week.

They took a 2-0 win over Southeast Lauderdale. Clay Sanders scored two goals. Christian Collins and Phillips Hines were each credited with an assist. Cade White was the winning goalie.

The Rockets then dropped a 5-2 decision to South Jones at the Meridian Community College Classic. Hines and Jake Wilborn both scored a goal for the Rockets.

The Neshoba Central girls went 1-1-1 last week. They defeated Southeast Lauderdale 4-1, lost 4-0 to South Jones in the Meridian Community College classic, and then tied Petal 1-1.

Against Southeast Lauderdale, Casea Cheatham scored two goals and was credited with an assist to lead the Lady Rockets. Mara Shelton scored a goal and was credited with an assist. Mason Daniels scored a goal. Alex Bowen was the winning goalie.

Rose Coats scored the Rockets’ goal in the Petal game.
