The Choctaw Central girls and the Philadelphia boys have both advanced to the Class 1A-2A-3A soccer playoffs.
Philadelphia’s Garrett Threadgill carries the ball downfield, all the while trying to defend against Richland players.
The Choctaw Central girls won the region championship for the second season in a row. The Lady Warriors closed out the season with two victories over the Math School last week, both by the score of 2-1.
In the first game, Jashaunque Steve and Allandra York both scored a goal to take the win. Steve scored two goals in the second game.
The Lady Warriors were to host Forest on Thursday. They entered the playoffs with a 14-5 record.
"We've had a good season so far," Coach Aaron Terrell said.
"We are looking to go as far as we can in the playoffs but there are some tough teams, especially the teams on the Coast. We'll have to see how we do."
The Philadelphia boys were to play Forest on Tuesday, weather permitting. Philadelphia finished second in its region. The Tornadoes have made it to the finals of the state playoffs for the past two seasons.
Neither Neshoba Central team made the playoffs. The Rockets finished with a 9-7-1 record while the Neshoba Central girls had an 8-9 mark.
