Choctaw Central saw both of its basketball teams jump out to 2-0 starts in the Region 5-3A action.

The Lady Warriors opened with a 53-37 victory over Philadelphia and then defeated Choctaw County 37-28. The Choctaw Central boys would best Philadelphia 45-43 in the opener and then defeated Choctaw County 62-37.

The Warrior teams have two more region games slated for this week as they were to visit Raleigh on Tuesday and then host Southeast Lauderdale on Friday.

Melody Jimmie scored 12 points and Kyree Bell added 11 points in the Lady Warriors win over Philadelphia. Choctaw Central led 28-17 at the half.

Leading 13-11 at the half, the Lady Warriors would outscore Choctaw County 16-11 in the third quarter to pull away and take the win. Lashayla McMillan led Choctaw Central with 11 points.

The Choctaw Central boys battled Philadelphia down to the wire before taking a two-point win. Shechem Grant led the Warriors with 19 points and Demarquis Wilson added 11 points.

The Warriors really turned it on in the second half against Choctaw County. Leading 30-24 at the half, Choctaw Central outscored Choctaw County 18-4 in the third quarter to put the game away. Grant scored 26 points to lead the Warriors.
