Former Neshoba Central standout T.J. Benn has continued his basketball career at Mississippi College and was recently honored for his outstanding play.

Ben was part of the Rocket team that made it to the finals of the Class 5A state tournament three years ago. He went on to play at Southwest Community College and now is a junior at Mississippi College.

Last week, Ben was named Mississippi College Merit Health Men’s Athlete of the Week.

The junior scored a team-high 16 points, tying a season-high with four three-pointers against Alabama-Huntsville. He also chipped in six points in the tight road loss to Lee College.

The Southwest Mississippi Community College transfer has battled injuries this season, but is shooting over 50 percent from three-point range and averaging 7.9 points per game. He has made multiple three-point baskets in seven of his 13 games with a season-high four in three different contests.
