Bassfield ends Union's season

The season came to an end for the Union Yellowjackets Friday night as they dropped a 42-7 decision to Bassfield in prep football action.
The Yellowjackets' finished with an 8-5 record. Bassfield, now 12-1, takes on Taylorsville in the next round.
"We would have liked for our season to have gone a little better," Coach Brad Breland said. "But it was a good year. We lost to a great team in Bassfield."
Bassfield had the edge in total offense, 366 yards-to 124 yards, and first downs, 15-8. Union rushed for 103 yards on 40 carries and completed one pass for 21 yards. Bassfield rushed for 349 yards on 37 carries, and completed three passes for 22 yards.
Josef Butler scored the Yellowjackets' only touchdown in the fourth quarter on a three-yard run. The kick was good.
Tre Bogan rushed 20 times for 47 yards and had all of Union's passing yardage. Joseph Alford rushed for 33 yards on nine carries.
In another game of interest in the Class 2A playoffs, Lake dropped a 28-22 decision to East Marion.
