Three area prep baseball teams gave their fans a sneak preview of their 2013 teams as they competed in four-inning jamboree games.

The Philadelphia Tornadoes bested Weir 9-6 in a four-inning jamboree game. The Tornadoes are under first-year head coach Cody Freeman. This Saturday, they will travel to Weir where they will play a couple of classic games against Ethel at 10:30 a.m., and Cleveland at 2:30 p.m. The Tornadoes open the season the following Monday in the Clarkdale tournament against Enterprise.

Neshoba Central split a pair of games Saturday at Northeast Lauderdale. The Rockets dropped a 7-1 decision to West Lauderdale, and then came back to beat Southeast Lauderdale 3-1. The Rockets will play two games in the Newton County Classic this weekend. They take on Lake at 5 p.m. and Newton County at 11 a.m. on Saturday. A junior varsity game between the Rockets and Newton County will begin at 9 a.m.

The Union Yellowjackets dropped a 10-0 decision to Kosciusko in their first jamboree game and then battled Starkville to a 2-2 tie in the other. Union will also play in the Newton County Classic this weekend.

The Yellowjackets play against Newton County Friday evening and then take on Quitman at 6 p.m. Saturday.

Choctaw Central and Union did not play in jamboree games. The Warriors will host Leake Central this Saturday starting at 11 a.m. for a doubleheader. Leake Academy opens its season at home Thursday against Lamar School, weather permitting.
