This past weekend was a great ending to the 48th Mississippi State USBC Youth Championship Tournament.

Sixty-eight youth bowlers participated in the Singles, Doubles, and Team events. They came from Diamondhead, D'Iberville, Columbus, Starkville, Jackson, Clinton, and Meridian.

Our local bowlers were Destiny Dill, Carson Settlemires, Traveon Wingo, Samantha Stanfill, Kavonte McCarty, Preston Breazeale, Tyler Dill, and Marissa Stanfill. There were many exciting bowlers to watch but one in particular will be remembered by all.

For his opening act, Nick Webster, 18, from Park Ten Lanes in Diamondhead bowled a perfect game. Although it is not his first perfect game, it is the first 300 game to be bowled at Depot Bowling. Nick was presented with a bowling pin from Depot Bowling for his accomplishment.

I would like to thank Depot Bowling and their entire staff for all their hard work and friendliness they exhibited during this two weekend tournament. It would not have been so successful without you.

I would also like to thank the president/organizer of the youth bowling activities Mary Formby. She is very dedicated to all youth bowlers and works hard to make sure it's about them and they have a good time. She is a blessing to all of us.

Along with the aforementioned, I would like to give a special thank you to all the local community sponsors who helped make the program book a wonderful addition to the gift packet each bowler received upon check-in.
