All the Neshoba Central Lady Rockets needed was for the rain to stop as they kick started their fast-pitch softball season with six victories last week.

The Lady Rockets, ranked No. 1 in the nation again in the USA Today softball national poll, entered this week with a 9-0 record.

The Lady Rockets started last week with a 3-0 win over Ethel and a 12-0 win over Southeast Lauderdale.

Neshoba Central then entered the Jubilee Shootout tournament in Daphne, Ala., over the weekend where they went 4-0.

The Lady Rockets defeated Bryant High School of Irvington, Ala., 14-1, Helena, Ala., 5-0, Fairhope, Ala., 2-0, and Daphne 5-0.

Aspen Wesley had another outstanding week on the mound. She pitched in four of the six games. She recorded 69 strike outs, allowed two hits while throwing two no-hitters and two one-hitters.

“We had a good week,” Coach Trae Embry said. “We got to play against some very good competition. Aspen had a great week and we had several girls who stepped up and got some big hits.”

The Lady Rockets will play two games this week in the Enterprise tournament. They will play West Harrison on Friday at 7 p.m., and Oak Grove Saturday at 5 p.m.

Wesley pitched a no-hitter and struck out 19 batters as the Lady Rockets opened a busy week with Ethel.

Neshoba Central scored one in the second, one in the third and one in the fifth.

The Lady Rockets had five hits. Tori Henderson hit a single with an RBI. Wesley, Shanta Beaulieu, Hallie Billie and Rivers Gray all had one single.

SE Lauderdale 0

The Lady Rockets came on strong in the later innings to put Southeast Lauderdale away.

Elleigh Willis was the winning pitcher. She recorded nine strike outs in five innings. Beaulieu pitched the final inning.

Destiny Dill hit two home runs and a double while scoring three runs and knocking in five. Henderson had two hits and knocked in two RBIs. Beaulieu, Wesley, Kyle Thompson and Gray all had one hit.

The Lady Rockets outhit Bryant 12-3 in their first game in the Daphne tournament.

Neshoba Central scored two in the first, six in the second, two in the third and four in the fourth. Bryant’s run came in the third inning.

Alexus Latham was the winning pitcher. She allowed three hits and had one strike out.

Wesley led at the plate with a home run, a single and three RBIs. Henderson hit a single and knocked in three runs while Beaulieu had two hits and scored two runs. Dill had two hits and scored a run.

Wesley returned to the mound to strike out 19 batters while pitching a one-hitter.

Wesley helped her cause with a double. Henderson hit a double and two singles while knocking in two runs. Dill hit a double. Willis and Beaulieu both had two hits.

Fairhope 0

 Tenly Grisham had two hits and knocked in a run to lead the Lady Rockets past Fairhope.

Fairhope was ranked No. 5 in the USA Today poll.

Neshoba Central scored one in the first and one in the fifth.

Wesley struck out 15 and allowed one hit.

Wesley, Latham and Willis all had one hit,

The Lady Rockets scored in the late inning to take the win over Daphne.

Neshoba Central scored three in the fifth and two in the sixth.

Wesley struck out 16 batters while pitching a no-hitter.

Grisham had one hit and two RBIs. Thompson connected on two hits and scored two runs while Henderson had one hit and scored two runs. Dill and Mateya Dixon both scored a run.
