The Neshoba Xtreme placed first in the Dizzy Dean 8U Girls State Tournament which was held at Northside Park over the weekend.

The Xtreme went 4-0 through the tournament brackets. They defeated Houston 15-8, Louisville 17-6 and Delta Force 11-6. Then in the championship game, they beat Delta Force again 17-4.

"I'm really proud of these girls," Coach Michelle Lathem said. "They played hard."

The Xtreme returns to the Dizzy Dean World Series which will be held in Southaven starting July 9. They are the defending champions having won the tournament last year.

The Neshoba 12U team came in second in their tournament. Neshoba County won its first four games, beating Calhoun 5-1, Southaven 7-0, Houston 10-4 and Senatobia 11-0. But on Sunday, they lost 6-0 in the first game to Grenada and 9-3 in the second game.
