Wooten, Bates wed on June 1 in Carthage

Emily Dianne Wooten and John David Bates were united in marriage June 1, 2013, at 2 p.m. in the afternoon. The ceremony was held at Pleasant Grove Congregational Methodist Church in Carthage with Bro. Frank Porter officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Dianne Wooten of Singleton, Miss. She is the granddaughter of Robby and Linda Cain, Singleton, Miss., and the late Tommy Vowell of Edinburg, Miss.
She is a 2007 graduate of Carthage High School. She graduated from Mississippi State University in 2011 with a bachelor's degree in marketing and public relations. She is employed by the Mississippi Economic Council.
The groom is the son of Darrel and Naomi Bates of Philadelphia.
He is the grandson of the late W. A. (Argus) and the late Marvel Bates of Philadelphia, MS and George and the late Johnie Muncie of Jackson.
The groom is a 2007 graduate of Neshoba Central High School. He graduated from Mississippi State University in 2011 with a bachelor's degree in Information Technology Services. He is employed by Stribling Equipment.
The bride was escorted by her grandfather Robby Cain and given in marriage by her mother, Dianne. Erin Wooten, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor.
Kasey Edwards and Lizzie Cain served as bridesmaids. Darrel Bates, father of the groom, served as best man. Matt Woods and Casey Stokes served as groomsmen.
After a honeymoon in the Smokey Mountains, the couple now resides in Pearl.
