4H S.A.F.E.T.Y.

Neshoba County 4H has a well-established S.A.F.E.T.Y. Shooting Sports Club for youth ages 8- 18. The goal of this club is to teach the youth of our community about firearms safety and conservation via weekly practices and a little friendly competition. Parents AND children interested in joining need to attend the Safety Meeting at the Neshoba County Coliseum Multi-purpose room on Friday, Jan. 24 at 6 p.m. Dues of $20 per discipline will be requested at the meeting. 


Massive Rummage Sale February 14th and 15th at United Methodist Church on Main Street in Philadelphia. We will have lots of nice clothes for adults and kids, furniture, books, homemade quilts and so much more. We will be at the family life center at 12:00 pm -7:00 pm on Friday February 14th and Saturday the 15th from 6:am until 5:00 pm. All proceeds will go to help build a home in Honduras.


 First Friday, Feb. 7, at 6 p.m., a 'picking and grinning' gathering will take place at the Old Church, 6075 Ebenezer Road of the Laurel Hill community.  Bluegrass, county, and gospel music will be provided.  Local performers are welcome and encouraged to participate.  For more information call Harold Beckham at 601-507-7126.


There will be a gospel singing Saturday February 8, 2020, at Hope Baptist Church on Hwy 488 in Philadelphia, MS. Southern Heritage will be featured during this event. It will begin at 6:00 PM and will conclude with a finger food fellowship. A love offering will be taken. The public is invited to come and join us during this time of inspiration and praise.

Free Crape 

Myrtle Pruning 


The Neshoba County Master Gardeners are hosting a Crape Myrtle Pruning Workshop at the Neshoba County Coliseum parking-lot on Saturday, Feb. 8 at 9 a.m.  Anyone is welcome to come and learn proper pruning techniques along with several other aspects of Crape Myrtle selection and care in our climate. The workshop is free to the public! However, we do welcome any donations made to the Neshoba Master Gardeners to help cover the many service projects they take on throughout the year. 

Free Workshop for Landowners

Neshoba County Extension Services is hosting a workshop on Feb. 20 to inform landowners about various ways of generating supplemental income from their property. Presentation topics include: revenue potential of your land, liability and legal considerations, forest management for wildlife, wild turkey management, and Farm Bill Program options for your land. This event will take place at the Neshoba County Coliseum Multi-purpose room and will last from 9-3 p.m. The workshop is free and your lunch will be provided, but you must register by Feb. 17 to attend.

Herbicides for Forest 


The Neshoba County Forestry Association is hosting a Forestry Herbicide workshop on Feb. 7. MSU Extension Associate, Dr. Brady Self, who specializes in Hardwood Silviculture and Forest Herbicides will be the speaker. The event begins at 8:30 a.m. and will wrap up at 1 p.m. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. The cost for the workshop is $25 per person or $40 per couple and is payable the day of the event. Registration Deadline is Friday, Jan. 31.



Bingo is being held each Tuesday at Northside Park Senior Citizens building from 5 to 6 p.m.  Fun and fellowship for all Seniors.

100 men-women in black

You are cordially invited to participate in our 1st annual 100 MEN and 100 WOMEN in BLACK. On February 16, 2020 at 3 PM. We are asking everyone that can and will be dressed in black and support our program with a $25 donation. Pastor Derrick Lucious will be our guest speaker.
