FAIR CITY CHORALE

The Fair City Chorale, directed by Patt Fiedler and accompanied by Carol Fiedler, will present "Sounds of Christmas" in concert on Tuesday, Dec. 5 at 7 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 563 Main Street, Philadelphia.

 Admission is free. The public is invited to share this musical evening with the Chorale members and guest musicians from communities throughout Neshoba County.

SOCIETY MEETING

The Dancing Rabbit Genealogical and Historical Society will meet Dec. 4 for their Christmas Social at the Sudduth house at 1 p.m.

They will install officers for 2018, have Show ’n’ Tell and enjoy festive finger food and fellowship.

Christian Women’s Job Corps

of Philadelphia

The Christian Women’s Job Corps of Philadelphia located in the Neshoba Baptist Center, is now offering two Jobs for Life  classes each Monday and Monday night in Level 1, Jobs for Life & Computer Basics.  Level 2 is Life Skills on Monday nights, with sewing, cooking, budgeting and bonus classes.

Application deadline for upcoming classes, Dec. 29.

Orientation is on Jan 5, prior receipt and acceptance of application by Christian Women’s Job Corps is required to attend the mandatory orientation.  Please identify “one and two” of your area of interest on your application, as openings are limited. Classes start Jan. 8.

ART EXHIBITION

A Philadelphia physician will host an art exhibition next month for the child of an emergency room nurse who is battling cancer to help with mounting expenses.

Dr. Sunil Kumar will have over 30 paintings at the art exhibition on Dec. 6 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Pearl View Cafe in Neshoba County General Hospital.

All proceeds will go to Laiken Cole, 2, daughter of Laura and Howard Cole. Laiken has neuroblastoma and has been in and out of the hospital on numerous occasions. Tickets for the exhibition will be $5 each.



PICKING AND GRINNING

On Friday, Dec. 1 at 6 p.m. at 6075 Ebenezer Road in the old church, there will be Blue Grass, Country and/or Gospel music.  Local performers are welcome.  For information call Harry Beckham  601-507-7126.



EDWARDS CHRISTMAS DINNER

   The Edwards  Christmas dinner will be  Saturday, Dec. 9 in the Fellowship Hall at Pine Grove Baptist Church, House community.  Lunch will be served at noon. Bring a covered dish and enjoy the fellowship with us.  Tell all your children. This is in loving memory of Mavis.



CHURCH SECURITY

 SEMINAR

There will be a free "Protecting The Flock" church security seminar held at First Baptist Church Louisville, on Monday night, Dec. 11 and Tuesday night, Dec. 12 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. each night.  

Jimmy Meeks of Sheepdog Safety Training will conduct this seminar.  He is a 44 year minister, a 35 year police officer based out of Texas.  

He will instruct church members and staff on methods of preventing attacks on churches and keeping members safe.

 BENEFIT

A benefit for cancer patient Allen Lowery will be held at Mars Hill Fire Department, Mars Hill Road, Philadelphia, on Dec. 2.  Chicken and hamburger plates are $10, serving begins 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.   An auction will take place at 6 p.m.   Everyone is welcome.



AMERICAN LEGION

 POST 238

American Legion Post 238 will have a “giant yard sale”  next door to Nemanco on Dec. 2 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.   A monthly meeting will be held 1 to 2 p.m.
