The members of the GFWC-MFWC Philadelphia Woman's Club held their Christmas meeting in the beautiful home of Pat Mioton. Her lovely home on Mimosa Street had several decorated trees for the pleasure of visitors and members. Decorating for and hosting the meeting were Joan Copeland, Elizabeth Frohse, Jean Marshall and Pat Mioton.
Pat graciously welcomed the ladies for yet another Christmas meeting on Dec. 12, 2013.
A delicious Christmas meal was served to members and guests including June Anderson, Gail Coates, Joan Copeland, Stacy Cook, Ayla, Elizabeth Frohse, Jean Marshall, Mary Marshall, Madonna May, Jo Beth McGilbra, Sarah McKay, Clara Reynolds, Phyllus Robinson, Sue Saxon, Barbara Thaggard, Suanne Williomson and guest, Michelle Phillips.
President Pat Minton called the meeting to order and welcomed members and introduced special guest, Michelle Phillips. The pledge was recited followed by a devotional. The business meeting began with President Mioton thanking the club for the support and participation of special projects during the past club year. The huge basket of goodies, which was raffled off, was on display with the winner being Elizabeth McKenzie. The proceeds garnered from this project goes directly into the Frances Williams' Scholarship Fund. During the past few months, members colleced donations for a "Casserole-A-Month." The lucky winner of a casserole each month of the year, prepared by Linda and James Waltman, was Kristen Page.
Sara McKay delighted the group with another of her original poems, "The Wonders and Traditions of Christmas." Sara is a poet in her own right. (The poem appeared in a recent column of "Just Among Friends".)
Guest Michelle Phillips entertained the ladies with her singing of traditional Christmas medleys. All members were encouraged to join in singing several of the songs. Michelle is employed with Hospira as Implementation Project Manager. She is also a registered nurse. The meeting closed with the exciting game of "Dirty Santa."
