A former member of the Neshoba Central Rockets Dance Team will be a member of East Central Community College's Centralettes in the fall.  Anna Sistrunk signed with the Centralettes recently to continue her education as part of the group.

Anna was a member of the Rockets Dance Team for four years and served as captain during her senior year. She is looking forward to being a part of this talented team of performers.  Her parents are Nathan and Laura Sistrunk. How exciting!

Happy Anniversary to Jim and Martha Whittle. This couple celebrated their 56th Wedding Anniversary on July 15th.  Although it was just the two of them this year, Martha has fond memories of the friends and family who came to their Golden Anniversary party six years ago. They had fun on this anniversary and are thankful for their good health and being together all of these years. Best wishes for more happy years together!

Like so many of us, Florine and Wendell Holmes, Sr., cherish their family and enjoy visits from their children and grandchildren whenever they can get together.

They enjoyed having Wendell Holmes, Jr. and his wife, KD Holmes, who came to share the recent holiday weekend in Philadelphia. They also had the pleasure of Justin Homes and his children, Easton and Grace joining them.

Easton and Grace love to "help" their grandmother as she cooks. They helped make sugar cookies which was such fun.  Florine is so patient and is a great teacher for these young future cooks. According to Florine, family time is precious and valuable. Every moment is to be cherished. I agree with her!

I had a very pleasant experience with our library last week. I had not had any books to read since March, and I was starving!  The library has a "grab bag" of books which is literally a brown paper bag filled with books which can be checked out.

The kind library assistant asked what type of books I liked and which authors. She took my card and I went to my car. A short time later, she came out with a brown bag filled with books. I was delighted to find several by some of my favorite authors. It was such a treat to have something to read again! I had bought a few paperbacks, but they were not fulfilling. It was like wanting chocolate and having to settle for bland vanilla. So pleased! Thank you to our library staff!

Thursday found a very excited group of bridge players enjoying a delicious lunch and an afternoon of bridge playing in the lovely home of Shirley Cox. It was such a fun event. Shirley and Joyce Hardy were the hostesses for the occasion.

The house was decorated with arrangements of colorful zinnias grown by Tom Cox and arranged by Shirley. The dining table held a centerpiece of red Mexican zinnias in an expandable brass frame holding individual glass tubes with a flower in each one. The effect was striking. The guests relaxed and visited before being seated at the lunch table where they were served a delectable meal. After lunch, the bridge playing began for the afternoon.

It was such fun to play again and visit with each other. Face masks and social distancing were practiced and Shirley had plenty of hand sanitizer available. Those attending were the hostesses, Shirley and Joyce Hardy, Jo Helen Daly, Mary Louise Blanks, Marianne Enochs, Laura Bryan, Susan Burt, and June Nowell.
