Philadelphia Elementary School PTO sponsored a very special guest who visited the school on Feb. 5. Miss Mississippi Mary Margaret Hyer  spoke to the students during the afternoon and found them to be “some of the most engaged and curious students” she had spoken to all year!

Her mission is to promote a smoke free state by using s program she has developed with the Mississippi Academy of Family Physicians.  PES PTO invited Mary Margaret to come to the school on her "Tar Wars" tour.  The group supports and enriches the school whenever and however it can.  Their motto #ontheroadtosuccesswithPES is inspiring. The audience was very attentive and seemed to enjoy their visitor.

She’s here!  Precious Emmie Morgan Moore made her entrance into the world on February 4th, weighing 7 pounds and 12 ounces of pure sweetness. Her parents are Ryan and Breann Boatner Moore.  For her first pictures in the hospital, she wore a pink ensemble with a white knit cap embroidered with "Emmie" in pink thread. She looked adorable. Her entire family welcomed her with open arms and lots of love. Congratulations!

The many friends of Billie Ruth Latting will be glad to know that she is now living in Atwood. She is recovering from a serious fall at her home and has been in Neshoba Swingbed until her move to Atwood the first week in February.

Her bridge playing has been curtailed, but daughter Marcia Blount reports that she has already met a fellow bridge player and Billie requested a bridge table from home!

Marcia has been helping take care of her.  One nice result of Billie’s illness was a visit from her two grandsons, Marcia’s sons from out of state came to help her and lend moral support.  Best wishes to Billie!

Gulfport International Airport was the scene of a very happy reunion for Brian and Lydia Whitaker Berry when their son, Ross Berry, arrived from Texas to visit his Mississippi family for a few days.  Ross is in the United States Air Force and completed basic training in January.  His parents, Brian and Lydia Berry, his three sisters, brother-in-law, Joel Bowman, and nephew, all attended graduation ceremonies.

On their way back to Philadelphia, they made some stops.  He surprised his PawPaw and MiMi with a visit which was such a joyful surprise for them, as well as Joel Bowman and his sister.

Ross was glad to be home even for a short time and his family enjoyed having him.  There never seems to be enough time when a son or daughter comes home to visit, no matter how often.

A pink bundle of joy arrived on January 20, 2020, into the loving arms of her parents, Craig and Melody Vowell.

This beautiful bundle was given the name Scarlett Day Vowell.

She weighed six pounds and 11 ounces of sweetness.  Her big sister, Mary Lauren, was thrilled with this new addition to the Vowell family.

She is surrounded with love from her extended family and their friends who had been waiting her arrival with great anticipation.  Congratulations!
