Congratulations to Anna Blair who was named to the Dean's List at East Central Community College for the Fall Semester, 2019. She received a letter notifying her of this honor.  As a result of her hard work and determination to succeed, she earned the grade point essential to receive recognition from the college. Anna's parents are Scott and Kristen Blair of Philadelphia.  She is a graduate of Leake Academy.

The second day of January found the Brian Berry family in San Antonio, Texas, at Lackland Air Force Base waiting for Ross Berry's graduation ceremonies to begin . They had driven from Philadelphia for this very momentous occasion. Ross joined the United States Air Force and departed for Basic Military Training in May of 2019. He completed eight and one half months of training successfully and was now an airman.

The graduation exercises were impressive and very moving. It was the culmination of a lot of hard work and self determination from each member of the class.

After graduation on January 2, Ross was given a day off base to spend with his family. They enjoyed visiting some of San Antonio's famous places including the River Walk. They also attended an ice hockey game at the AT&T Center.

Ross will depart from San Antonio to begin training for his chosen field of study in the near future. Ross's parents are Brian and Lydia Whitaker Berry. His sisters are Emily Berry, Tiffany Berry, and Christy Berry Bowman, brother-in-law, Joel Bowman, and nephew, baby Wynn Bowman. All of the members of his family were present to watch proudly as Ross graduated.  Congratulations and best wishes to Ross Berry.

Valentine's Day is just around the corner and the NCES PTO has figured out a way to spread the love in a really loving way this year and help some fellow Rockets.  They would like the students to help them stock the food pantry at the elementary school!  This is NOT the snack pantry at the elementary school.  This food pantry helps provide students in need with food to take home for the weekends and holidays.  Teachers and staff who are aware of those needing assistance notify the two counselors, Ms. Thrash and Ms. Edwards.

Please consider "Spreading the Love" by donating nonperishable items and items that students can prepare themselves such as nabs, pop tarts, ramen noodles, fruit/pudding cups, fruit gummies, etc. Thank you for your help and willingness to serve those in need.

Neshoba Country has contributed another future member of our United States Armed Services. Austin Anderson graduated from the Anderson Abeka Homeschool recently and was recognized by the Longino Baptist Church. Austin will head to Parris Island Marine Boot Camp, MCRD, in South Carolina. Parris Island is one of two Marine Corps Recruit Depots where all individuals entering the Marine Corps will undergo recruit training regardless of eventual active or reserve duty status. Congratulations to Austin.
