Three of Neshoba County School District's students were in Milan, Italy during the first week of July.  Mary Grace Mitchell, Maggie Hardin, and Emma Rhinewall represented their band, school, county, and the state of Mississippi.  They competed in the Lions Club International Convention which was held in Milan this year.  It was a tremendous honor for these students to be selected for competition.  They were great representatives. Congratulations.

Katie James is six years old!  To celebrate this monumental birthday, her parents, Sara and Kyle James, planned a birthday party with a mermaid theme which was exactly what Katie wanted.

Katie's little guests arrived at her house where they were excited to see a colorful water slide in the backyard along with a giant sized trampoline.  The waterslide was a big hit.  All of the children had such fun sliding down over and over.  Some converged on the trampoline while others had fun taking turns riding on a four wheeler driven by Katie's daddy, Kyle.  They also had a neat sack race with heavy plastic sacks which had mermaid tails printed on them in bright colors. Since the little girls were wearing swimsuits, they looked like real mermaids!  There were several different types of games which they all enjoyed.

The refreshment tables were covered with pretty aqua cloths with an arch of cheerful balloons framing the blue backdrop with "Happy Birthday" across it above the center table.  Mermaid tails flanked each side of the table along with a huge inflatable gold number 6. The table had plates, forks, and cups carrying out the mermaid theme.  The cake was awesome. It was truly a work of art. The bottom layers of the multi tiered cake were covered in aqua icing resembling ocean waves.  Seashells in different colors formed a cluster on the next tiers along with a piece of seaweed rising from the bottom tiers.. The rest of the cake was covered in white frosting which resembled sand.  The topper was a gold number 6 with a coral starfish next to it.  Katie blew out a big red number six candle which her mother placed on top of the cake.  Aqua colored napkins with the words, "Let's Shell Abrate", printed on them in gold were used with the cake.  Party favors were bags of goodies printed to resemble fish scales in aqua or coral.  It was a fun party!
