It was a fun weekend for Don and Sharon McKay who had flown to Fort Worth, Texas, for their son's graduation from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary on December 14th.  Richard McKay earned a Masters of Divinity degree which was conferred during ceremonies at the Seminary.  As Richard walked across the stage to receive his diploma, there were yells and "woos", compliments from some of his very favorite people who are partners and leaders in ministry, James Kyle Jennings, Matt Hunter, Jared Yates and Jason Paredes.

Following the ceremony, family and friends gathered at the McKay home to celebrate this very special achievement.  Along with Don and Sharon McKay were some of Glyn's family members including her parents, Kevin and Mary Ann Norman Wright, Avery Wright, and Jordan and Corbin Clements. Of course, Richard and Glyn's son, Fletcher, was also present with huge smiles for everyone!

Saturday was a celebration of Christmas lights at Enchanted Christmas which was an amazing spectacle of light displays.  Fletcher was totally enchanted by all of the fascinating beauty of colorful lights all around him.  His face reflected the wonder of a child's joy and amazement at such a thrilling sight.

Congratulations to Richard and my very best wishes for a wonderful future!

East Philadelphia Baptist Church is sad to lose their Student Pastor, Rusty Parsons, who has accepted a position at Longview Baptist Church in Olive Branch, Mississippi.  Rusty has been with East Philadelphia for almost ten years. During his tenure he brought strong leadership skills and expanded the role of teaching the Gospel in ways that reached the youth.  His many planned activities, youth conventions, and trips with the youth to attend enrichment activities appealed to the students.  He will be greatly missed.  His last Sunday at East Philadelphia was December 23rd.  Best wishes on your new job!
