V.C. 'Pete' Kynerd

Services for Mr. V.C. "Pete" Kynerd were held Saturday, July 13, 2013, in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home of Meridian. The Rev. Dewayne Warren and the Rev. Roy Dabbs officiated. Burial was in Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Kynerd, 88, of Kemper County, passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Kynerd was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served during World War II. He was a longtime cattleman in Kemper County and was also retired as a warehouse supervisor at NAS Meridian, having served 23 years with Civil Service. He loved watching St. Louis Cardinals baseball and was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church in Kemper Co. He will be remembered as a loving and dedicated husband, father, and grandfather, and as a hard working man who loved to work with his cattle.
Mr. Kynerd and his wife, Velma, began their marital journey on July 14, 1951, having enjoyed a loving life together for the past 62 years.
In addition to being survived by his wife, he is survived by his son, J.R. "Rusty" Kynerd and his wife, Jane; granddaughter, Blair Kynerd Landwehr; great-grandson, John Sterling Landwehr; nephew, Mike Kynerd and his wife, Patsy; and niece, Jan Griffin. He is also survived by numerous great-nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were John M. Kynerd, Mike Kynerd, Dave Miller, Milton Harbour, Hal Harbour, and Willie Jackson. Honorary pallbearers were Robert George and Jerry Weaver.
