Funeral services were held for Mr. Robert C. "Bob" Palmer, Jr., on Monday, June 16, 2014, at 11 a.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Home Chapel with Terrell D. Suggs officiating. Burial was in Union City Cemetery.

Mr. Palmer, 62, of Union, died Friday, June 13, 2014, at his home.

Mr. Palmer, a native of Macon, Miss., had been a resident of Union since 1981. At the time of his death, he served as President of The Citizens Bank, Union branch, which he had the privilege of opening in 1981.

Bob loved the Lord, his family, and his friends. Never meeting a stranger, he had a way of making everyone who crossed his path feel important. Truly Bob had a personality larger than life and to know him was to love him. Bob was a member of First Baptist Church, Union, the Union Chamber of Commerce, and actively involved in community service.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy Palmer of Union; daughter, April Palmer Gernaat and her husband Doug Gernaat of Starkville; son, Brad Palmer and his wife Krystal of Philadelphia; step-daughter, Sherry Gunn and her husband Mark Gunn of Meridian; step-son, Greg Winstead of Union; six grandchildren, Cole Gernaat, Ethan Palmer, Logan Palmer, Molly Palmer, Zoey Palmer and Zach Griffin; mother, Betty Palmer of Brandon; sister, Ann Welch and her husband David Welch of Raymond; niece, Kaylee Welch of Raymond; and nephew, Rob Welch of Madison.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert C. Palmer, Sr.
