Services for Jewelia A. Mowdy were held Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, at 2 p.m. from McClain-Hays Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Billy James officiating.

Burial followed in Bethsaida Cemetery in Neshoba County. McClain-Hays Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Mowdy, 73, of Philadelphia, died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, at her residence.

She was a native of Neshoba County and a former resident of Newton where she worked as a secretary at Coastal Plain Experiment Station. She moved to the Bethsaida community of Neshoba County in the mid 80's. Mrs. Mowdy was a member of Bethsaida Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years.

Survivors include her husband, Carson L. Mowdy of Philadelphia; daughter, Cindy Giles of Philadelphia; sons, Mark Mowdy (Karen) of McCall Creek, Tim Mowdy (Gina) of Newton and Brian Mowdy (Bridgett) of Philadelphia; grandchildren, Jared Mowdy (Mallory) Jessica Shows (Joseph), Joanna Pierce (Justin), Emma Mowdy, Avery Mowdy, and Danika Mowdy; great-grandchildren, Carson Mowdy, Garrett Mowdy, Lyla Shows and Slade Shows; sister, Dorothy Pierce (Eric) of Philadelphia; and brother, Jesse Hillman (Jackie) of Jackson, Tenn.

Mrs. Mowdy was preceded in death by her son, Hugh F. Mowdy; son-in-law, Larry A. Giles; parents, J.C. and Christine Hillman; and an infant brother.

Pallbearers were Jared Mowdy, Dennis Williams, Kenny Pierce, Joseph Shows, David Winstead and Jason Mayo.
