Services for H. H. "Boots" Harpole were held Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013, at 3 p.m. from McClain-Hays Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Curt Pace officiating. Burial followed in Cedarlawn Cemetery with McClain-Hays Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Harpole, 88, went home to meet his Savior on Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013.

Boots was a lifelong resident of Philadelphia, Mississippi and elder emeritus of First Presbyterian Church. He worked for the State of Mississippi for over 53 years, serving in the Transportation Department, the Public Service Commission, and the 8th Judicial District. As his nickname would imply, he was an avid horseman, having owned and driven both trotters and pacers.

Perhaps his greatest love was his family: his wife, Frankie Price Harpole of Philadelphia; his daughters, Lorraine Blount (David) of Madison and Jessica Bailey (Ty) of Madison; grandsons, Andrew Bailey (Jessica) of Jefferson City, Mo., Clay Blount of Madison and Simon Bailey (Ashley) of Jackson and his sister, Helen Latimer of Starkville.

He was predeceased by other loving family members: father, Jefferson Davis Harpole; mother, Mattie Turner Harpole; brother, Jeff Harpole and sister, Ginnie Dees.

He will be remembered by many as a good friend and someone who could be counted on in a time of need and will be missed by friends and family alike.

Pallbearers were Keith Howle, Max Kilpatrick, Mark Duncan, Kenny Rea, Jimmy Rea, Tony Hardy, Rayburn Waddell and Craig Brown. Honorary pallbearers were Charles Mars, Ray Howell, Earvin Sims and Bud Waddell.
