George Joel Muncie, 91, passed away Friday, July 26, 2013, at the State Veterans Home in Kosciusko.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug 1, 2013, at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home in Clinton.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with visit one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Lakewood Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Muncie was born in Jackson to the late George and Joanna Pedlar Muncie.

He served his country aboard the USS Caperton in the South Pacific during WWII. He worked more than 30 years at Armstrong World Industries.

He served as past president as well as other offices for United Rubber Workers. He was a longtime member of Van Winkle United Methodist Church and currently a member at Raymond United Methodist.

Mr. Muncie is preceded in death by his parents, and wives, Johnie Watts Muncie and Frances Youngblood Muncie.

He is survived by his sons, Joel Muncie (Sharon), Paul Muncie (Anne) and Mark Muncie(Lee Anne); daughter, Naomi Bates (Darrel); step-children, Amy Youngblood Law (Chuck) and Mark Youngblood (Janet); grandchildren, Jim Muncie (Mary Beth), Joanna Bates Kuhn (Scott), Catherine Bates Stewart (Rockie), and John David Bates (Emily); step-grandchildren, Garrett Law, and Sarah and Hannah Youngblood; and two great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association at alz.org; Raymond United Methodist Church, 230 W Main St, Raymond, MS 39154; or to a charity of your choice.
