Formerly of Neshoba County George Carrol Skinner, 76, of Dixie Community, died Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at his home. Services were Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at 1:30 p.m. at Dixie Baptist Church followed by burial in Dixie Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Skinner was a devoted husband, father, and brother. He was a member of Dixie Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and member of the choir.
He served twenty years in the U.S. Air Force and Army Guard. He was a very unique person, and he always gave 100 percent in everything he did.
He was a member of Woodmen of the World and was a devoted fan of Southern Miss Athletics, the New Orleans Saints, and the Atlanta Braves.
His most enjoyable employment years were as an accountant at Varnado Timber Company and when he worked at Camp Shelby.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ellis and Ruby Skinner.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Alice Faye Skinner of Dixie Community; three sons, Ricky (Jennifer) Skinner of Concord, N.C., Tim (Kelly) Skinner of Triangle, Va., and David (Suzanne) Skinner of Hattiesburg; one sister, Judy (Glenn) May of Philadelphia, Miss.; six grandchildren; and a number of nephews, cousins, and loved ones.
Visitation was from 5 - 8 p.m. Sunday, January 13, 2013 at Moore Funeral Home in Hattiesburg.
