Services for David C. Jones were held Saturday, March 6, 2010, at 2 p.m. from McClain-Hays Funeral Home Chapel.

The Rev. Jimmie Gunn and the Rev. Mike Sims officiated. Burial followed in Tucker Cemetery in Kemper County with Masonic Rites.

Mr. Jones, 78, died Wednesday, March 3, 2010, at Mississippi State Veterans Home in Jackson.

He was a native of the Forestdale community of Neshoba County and a long time resident of Philadelphia. He retired from Philadelphia Utilities after 36 1/2 years of service. He was an active member of Southside United Methodist Church where he helped prepare church meals for many years and had also served on the Administrative Board.

Mr. Jones was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Korea. He was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and was 100 percent Disabled American Veteran. He was a member of Philadelphia Masonic Lodge # 91 and a member of the Eastern Star.

Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and Leona Jones; step-mother, Frankie Ann Jones; and brother, Wallace Jones.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Marlene Jones of Vicksburg (formerly of Philadelphia); daughter, Brenda Jones Jackson of Macon; son, Michael David Jones of Vicksburg; grandchildren, Courtney Jones Woodruff of Vicksburg, Holly Cathryn Jones of Vicksburg, and Allen Scott Brown of Tampa, Fla.; sister-in-law, Louise Jones of Saucier; and niece, Debbie Jones Eubanks of Saucier.

Pallbearers were Doris Wayne Collins, Steve Johnson, Greg Lewis, James Harris, Ricky Griffin, Keith McGee and Larry Lillis.
