Services for Carnes King were held Sunday, April 21, 2013, at 2 p.m. from McClain-Hays Chapel.
The Rev. Billy Henry officiated. Burial followed in Eastlawn Cemetery with military honors.
Mr. King, 89, died Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at home.
He was a native of the Ebenezer community in Leake County and a longtime Philadelphia resident. He retired from Daly Oil Co. where he worked as service station manager. Mr. King was a member of New County Line Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII and was a Purple Heart and Bronze Star Medal recipient. He was a member of the American Legion.
Survivors include his daughters, Linda McCullough and Kathleen Sistrunk both of Philadelphia; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and sister, Carol Sue Palmer of Edinburg.
Mr. King was preceded in death by his wife, Winnie Dee King; daughter, Evelyn Ann King; and parents, Johnny and Dollie King.
