Services for Allen Stokes were held Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013, at 4:30 p.m. from Harmony Baptist Church in Winston County.

The Rev. Doug Stokes and the Rev. Jerry Lundy officiated. Burial followed in Harmony Cemetery with McClain-Hays in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Stokes, 76, died Friday, Sept. 13, 2013.

He was a native of Nanih Waiya in Winston County. He retired from Houston Belt Terminal Railway Company in Houston, Texas. He served as fire chief of Nanih Waiya Volunteer Fire Department for 25 years and worked at Winston Medical Center as night security guard.

Survivors include his wife, Ilene Stokes; daughters, Donna Bradshaw, Sandy Nowell, Rita Herman, Debbie Pope and Shelby Haesche; sons, Sherlon Stokes and Timmy Stokes; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sisters, Mattie Sue Green and Barbara Lynn Davis; brothers, Terry Stokes and Delano Stokes.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Valley Stokes and three brothers.
