Gerald Allen “Boots” Howell was remembered this week as a great storyteller, musician and inventor and for his stance against the Ku Klux Klan in the 1960s.

Services for Howell, 94, will be Saturday at 4 p.m. from St. Francis Episcopal Church, which he was instrumental in establishing in 1964.
  • Services for Joshua Edward Johnson were Saturday, Jan. 7, 2017, at 1 p.m. from Jerusalem Temple Church with Elder Stanley Jones officiating. Burial was in Donald Rest Cemetery.

    Beck Funeral Home, Inc was in charge of arrangements.
  • Services for Morris Cleveland Jefferson were at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 9, 2017, at Macedonia Baptist Church with burial in the Conehatta Community Cemetery.  

    Visitation began at noon Saturday, Jan. 7, 2017, at the home of Peggy Williams, 163 Lagoon Road.  John E. Stephens Chapel Funeral Services was in charge of arrangements.
  • Services for John Edwin John were at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 6, 2017, at Pearl River Facility Building with burial in the Old Canaan Cemetery.

     Visitation began at 4 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, 2017, at the Pearl River Facility Building.  John E. Stephens Chapel Funeral Services was in charge of arrangements.
  • Services for Tommie Lee Steed, 95, were at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 30, 2016, at Doty Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Don Ray officiating.  Burial was in Doty Springs Cemetery.

    Ms. Steed died on Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2016. 
  • Services for Linda Loraine Fulton were Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2017, at 2 p.m. from Lynville United Methodist Church in Preston with Rev. Chris Gully and Rev. Randy Caldwell officiating.  Burial followed in Lynville Cemetery.

    McClain-Hays Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
  • Services for Roy Wayne Boatner Sr. were at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, 2017, at John E. Stephens Chapel with Rev. Scott Boatner and Rev. Gary Caudill officiating.

    Mr. Boatner, 74, died on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017, at his residence. He lived in Plattsburg community most of his life and was a truck driver.

     He was a member of Way Of The Cross Church.
  • Services for James “Skip” Duncan were held Thursday, Jan. 5, 2017, at 2 p.m. from Holy Rosary Catholic Church with Father Bob Goodyear officiating.  Burial followed in Holy Rosary Cemetery in Neshoba County. McClain-Hays Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

     Mr. Duncan, of Philadelphia, died on December 31, 2016.  He was a native and lifelong resident of Neshoba County.  He grew up in the Tucker Community where he was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church.  Skip worked as a tanker man on a riverboat prior to becoming disabled.  Skip loved the outdoors.  He was an avid fisherman, golfer, and enjoyed hunting for old relics.
  • Services for Wyatt Stanley were Saturday, Jan. 7, 2017, at 11 a. m. from McClain-Hays Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Fedrick officiating.  

    Burial was in Cedarlawn Cemetery in Philadelphia.   McClain-Hays Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

     Mr. Stanley, 89, of Philadelphia, died Thursday, Jan. 5, 2017, at his home.
  • Services for Adell Phillips Higginbotham were held Friday, Jan. 6, 2017, at 11 a.m. from Bloomfield Congregational Methodist Church with Rev. Buddy Covington officiating.  Burial followed in Bloomfield Cemetery in Neshoba County. McClain-Hays Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

    Adell Phillips Higginbotham, 82, of Philadelphia, died Jan. 3, 2017, at Anderson Regional Medical Center.
  • Services for Nellie Faye Crenshaw were Sunday, Jan. 8, 2017, at 3 p.m. from McClain-Hays Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dudley Winstead, Rev. Randolph Scott and Rev. Danny Moss officiating.  Burial was in Laurel Hill Cemetery in Neshoba County.   

    Mrs. Crenshaw, 67, of Philadelphia, died on Jan. 5, 2017.
