Gerald Allen “Boots” Howell was remembered this week as a great storyteller, musician and inventor and for his stance against the Ku Klux Klan in the 1960s.

Services for Howell, 94, will be Saturday at 4 p.m. from St. Francis Episcopal Church, which he was instrumental in establishing in 1964.
  • Memorial services for Clarence Daniel Pettus will be at a later date.

    Mr. Pettus, 63, died on Monday, June 19, 2017, at Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian.

     He lived in Neshoba County all of his life. He was Pentecostal.
  • Services for  Billy Jean Morrow, 86, of Pearl were at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 27, 2017, at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon.

    Burial was in Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Pearl.
  • Services for Ms. Lakesha Raton Davis will be on Saturday, July 1, 2017, at 11 a.m. from Goodway Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Braylon Hyde officiating.

    Burial will be in Donald Rest Cemetery. Beck Funeral Home, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
  • Services for Mrs. Gloria Jean Douglas were Tuesday, June 27, 2017, at 1 p.m. from Jerusalem Temple Church with Rev. Harold Coburn, Jr. officiating. Burial was in Donald Rest Cemetery. Beck Funeral Home, Inc. was in charge of arrangements.

     Mrs. Douglas, 66, died on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson.
  • Services for Mrs. Flora Ann Bourrage Triplett were Sunday, June 25, 2017, at 3 p.m. from Mount Nebo Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. M.C. Thompson, Jr. officiating. Burial was in Mt. Ary M.B. Church Cemetery. Beck Funeral Home, Inc. was in charge of arrangements.

    Mrs. Triplett, 72, died on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at Neshoba General Nursing Home.
  • Services for Mary Lou Kitchens were held Monday, June 26, 2017, at 10 a.m. from McClain-Hays  Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jamie Bailey and Rev. Keith Williams officiating.  Burial followed in Cedarlawn Cemetery in Philadelphia.

    Mrs. Kitchens, 84, of Scooba, died Friday, June 23, 2017, at Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian.
  • Services for Ray Boswell were Saturday, June 24, 2017, at 1 p. m. from McClain-Hays Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Dan Howard officiating. Burial followed in Cedarlawn Cemetery in Philadelphia.

    Mr. Boswell, 89, of Philadelphia, died Thursday, June 22, 2017, at his home.
  • Graveside services for   Wayne Collins were Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at 11 a. m. from Cedarlawn Cemetery with Rev. David Fedrick officiating.  McClain-Hays Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

    Mr. Collins, 79, of Philadelphia, died Monday, June 19, 2017.
  • Services for Jerry “Dawg” Clark were Friday, June 23, 2017, at 2 p.m. from McClain-Hays Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Allen Herrington officiating.  

    Burial was in Cedarlawn Cemetery in Philadelphia.  McClain-Hays Funeral Home was in charge of services.

    Mr. Clark, 62, of Philadelphia, died Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at his home.
  • Services for Charles Wishork were at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 27, 2017, at his home 127 Pine Ridge Road with burial in the Starr Cemetery.

    Visitation began at 5 p.m. Sunday, June 25, 2017, at his home at 127 Pine Ridge Road.  John E. Stephens Chapel Funeral Services was in charge of arrangements.
