A Philadelphia woman died in a one-vehicle crash Tuesday morning on Mississippi 491 north of Tucker.

The woman, identified as Sylvia Wiggs, 80, died in the crash at about 8:40 a.m., said Neshoba County Coroner John Stephens.

Wiggs, who address was listed as Myrtle Street, was the only person in the vehicle.

Wiggs’ 1998 Toyota XTR was heading south on Mississippi 491 when the vehicle went off the road in a wooded area past a curve just south of Mississippi 486. The car went into a ravine where it hit a tree. It took more than an hour to recover the body.

Wiggs was pronounced dead at the scene, said Sgt. Andy West of the Mississippi Highway Patrol.  Neshoba County Sheriff’s deputies directed traffic while MHP worked to photograph and clear the scene.

The Neshoba County Sheriff’s Department, the House Volunteer Fire Department and ambulances from Neshoba County General Hospital also responded to the scene.
