Two men were charged with breaking and entering into an automobile and with taking guns and ammunition from a residence on Road 602.
Herman L. Turner, 19, of 3001 Mississippi 16 east, Carthage, and Ryan S. Dorman, 18, of 10430 Road 838, have each been charged with auto breaking and entering and burglary of an unoccupied dwelling, Sheriff's Investigator John Lilley said.
The men are charged in connection with the Jan. 23 theft of two muzzleloaders, a double-barreled shotgun and a large quantity of ammunition from an unoccupied residence in the 13000 block Road 602.
Lilley said the pair had been out looking for scrap metal when they came across the property.
They found the guns inside the house and the ammo in the cars, he said. The owner was using it as storage.
After the theft was reported, investigators spoke with a neighbor who provided a car tag number and a description of the suspects.
After running the tag number, deputies discovered it belonged to a Leake County vehicle.
"We called the Leake Sheriff's Office to assist us with the arrest," Lilley said.
Both men were arrested in Turner's home in Carthage.
All the stolen items were recovered.
Turner and Dorman remain in the Neshoba County Jail on $5,000 bond each.
