The 2013 Southeast District 4-H Shooting Sports competition was held in Harrison County recently with 39 4-Híers from Neshoba County participating in 64 disciplines.

Results were as follows:

In the 10 meter air rifle division for sporter scoped 8-9 year olds Keaton Long placed third and Eli Jenkins placed fourth. In the 10 meter air rifle division for trainers 8-9 year olds Parker Moody placed third, Kyleigh Laughlin placed sixth, Zoie Herring placed seventh and Cayla Fortenberry placed eighth. In the 10 meter air rifle division for trainer scoped 8-9 year olds Zeb Spire placed second and Owen Daly placed seventh. In the 10 meter air rifle division for trainers 10-11 year olds Steve Bowman placed third.

In the .22 rifle open sight division for 10-11 year olds Lathan Johnson placed 7th, Hunter Beason placed 12th and Connor Cox placed 13th. In the .22 rifle peep sight division for 10-11 year olds Caden Rushing placed 2nd. In the .22 rifle open sight division for 12-13 year olds Zackary Simmons placed 5th. In the .22 rifle optical sight division for 12-13 year olds Ethan Jenkins placed fourth, John Carter placed eighth, Cole Turk placed 19th and Grayson Herring placed 29th. In the .22 rifle peep sight division for 12-13 year olds John Carter placed third and Brody Pinter placed fifth. In the .22 rifle optical sight division for 14-15 year olds Elizabeth Sanders placed 17th and Chloe Pinter placed 23rd. In the .22 rifle peep sight division for 14-15 year olds Elizabeth Sanders placed second. In the .22 rifle peep sight division for 16-18 year olds Cole Beason placed third.

In the archery standard compound for males ages 10-11 Caden Rushing placed 2nd, Chandler Fortenberry placed 5th, Robby Ellis placed 6th, Lathan Johnson placed 11th, Hunter Beason placed 12th and Connor Cox placed 14th. In the archery standard compound for females ages 12-13 Casea Cheatham placed first, Grayson Herring placed ninth, Carly Smith placed 11th, Madison Alford placed 12th and Summer Sanders placed 15th. In the archery standard compound for males ages 12-13 Zackary Simmons placed 16th, Brody Pinter placed 23rd and Jonah Flake placed 24th. In the archery bare bow for males ages 14-15 Lane Miles placed second and Chris Paul placed third. In the archery standard compound for females ages 14-15 Chloe Pinter placed fifth. In the archery standard compound for males ages 14-15 Lane Miles placed third, Eric Bishop placed seventh and Cody Cheatham placed 15th.

In the 10 meter air pistol precision division for 8-9 year olds Cayla Fortenberry placed first. In the 10 meter air pistol match two handed division for 10-11 year olds Steve Bowman placed second and Lathan Johnson placed third. In the 10 meter air pistol sporter two handed division for 10-11 year olds Julia Jackson placed fifth and Dalen Anderson placed sixth.

In the .22 pistol metallic sights division for 14-15 year olds Chloe Pinter placed third. In the .22 pistol revolver metallic sights division for 14-15 year olds Zachary Jackson placed second. In the .22 pistol metallic sights division for 16-18 year olds Cole Beason placed fifth and Hannah Turk placed seventh.

In the shotgun division for ages 10-11 Hunter Beason placed fifth, Caden Rushing placed 10th, Robby Ellis and Lang Pharis tied for 22nd and Chandler Fortenberry placed 30th.

In the shotgun division for ages 12-13 John Carter placed 10th, Jonah Flake placed 38th and Grayson Herring placed 51st. In the shotgun division for ages 14-15 Nate Bowen placed 22nd and Cody Cheatham placed 40th. In the shotgun division for ages 16-18 Cole Beason placed 2nd.

We had seven of our 14-18 year old 4-H'ers to qualify for the Mississippi Invitational in Pearl July 12-13. They are Elizabeth Sanders in .22 rifle, Chloe Pinter in .22 rifle and .22 pistol, Cole Beason in .22 rifle, .22 pistol and shotgun, Lane Miles in bare bow archery and compound archery, Eric Bishop in compound archery, Cody Cheatham in compound archery and Hannah Turk in .22 pistol.

Congratulations to each of these 4-H'ers and their families. They worked hard and are to be congratulated.
